Jay Breen has been making and teaching music for nearly four decades. Having received his formal training and education at UMass Lowell, Jay is a proficient multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and musical director who has enjoyed studying with numerous teachers including Fred Buda (Boston Pops Orchestra), John Muzzy (Beatlejuice), John Ramsay (Berklee, Art Blakey Big Band), and the legendary Bob Gullotti (the Fringe). Jay maintains a busy performing schedule with McKinley Mood, Hal Holiday’s Holiday Ramblers, Daemon Chili, Alligator Wine and others. Previously, Jay recorded and toured extensively with the Freelance Bishops and later Grassroot, sharing the stage over the years with local legends, James Montgomery, Johnny A, G-Love and others. His extensive training and experience as a music educator finds Jay incorporating multiple modalities in order to apply each student’s learning preferences to advance their skills in a fun, experiential way.
