Joe is a bassist, theorist, and arranger hailing from Newburyport where he lives with his wife and fellow ZFDM teacher, Risa. Joe has received his Master of Arts in Music Theory from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts in Double Bass Performance from the University of New Hampshire. As a bass player, Joe is highly sought after across a multitude of genres and styles, and is currently a member of the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. Equally comfortable on upright and electric bass, he is also in demand as a bass player for theater pit ensembles, playing with various groups all over the North Shore and greater New England areas. Formerly, Joe studied bass with John Hunter, Don Williams, and John Lockwood.
