Jonathan began formal training on piano and saxophone at age nine. As a student at Methuen High School, he studied music theory and piano with Berklee College of Music faculty Ed Saindon. Jonathan graduated in 2012 from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a B.A. in Music Studies. His teachers included: Ken Reid (Boston Pops), Dan Lutz, Walter Platt, George Garzone (New England Conservatory/Berklee College of Music) and Charlie Kohlhase (Longy School of Music). Jonathan has been teaching private music lessons for the last 10 years as well as teaching music theory and ensembles at the Umass Lowell Mary Jo Leahy Symphonic Band Camp. Throughout his teaching career he has mentored many students in preparation for district music festival and college entrance auditions. His goal is to help students discover all that music has to offer with a fun and inquisitive approach rooted in clarity of objectives and music fundamentals. Jonathan’s curriculum includes sight reading, ear training, theory, composition, arranging and Improvisation. Along with a passion for teaching Jonathan also maintains an active schedule throughout New England as a live performer, composer and recording artist.
